With an expected lifespan of 30 years, the Geaux Energy Storage project will provide the county with steady growth and long-term community benefits throughout the lifespan of the energy center. Development begins well before the project breaks ground.

Investing in Louisiana
The Geaux Energy Storage project is fully funded by Geaux Energy Storage, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC.
Because the project is privately funded, the tax revenue it generates represents new income for the community. Geaux Energy Storage will contribute additional tax dollars that local governments can invest where it’s needed most, helping to strengthen schools, improve roads, support first responders and enhance other vital community services.
In 2024, NextEra Energy Resources’ subsidiaries paid a combined total of $6.1 million* in state and local taxes and business-related fees in Louisiana.

These contributions help sustain local governments, police and fire departments, schools and other community organizations, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to investing in the communities where we operate.
