Why It Matters

Now is the time to strengthen America’s future by advancing our nation’s energy independence. For decades, subsidiaries of NextEra Energy Resources have been helping power the U.S. economy —fueling growth, innovation and a higher quality of life.

Features of Greeley Wind

Designed to store up to 115 megawatts (MW) of American energy—enough to help power thousands of homes and businesses.

Targeted to begin operations as early as December 2026, pending all required permits and approvals, the project will bring new jobs, investment and opportunity to the area.

Supporting Greeley County

With an expected lifespan of 30 years, the Greeley Wind project will provide Greeley County with steady economic growth and long-term community benefits throughout the lifespan of the energy center. Development begins well before the project breaks ground.

Greeley Wind serves as a catalyst for local economic growth, creating hundreds of construction jobs, supporting long-term employment opportunities and generating new revenue for Greeley County through landowner payments and tax contributions.

Beyond job creation, the project boosts local businesses, from hotels and restaurants to caterers and office suppliers, by driving demand and supporting the broader regional economy. Our commitment also extends to improving local infrastructure and actively participating in community initiatives that enhance quality of life.

Investing in Nebraska

The Greeley Wind project is fully funded by Greeley Wind, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC.

Because the project is privately funded, the tax revenue it generates represents new income for the community. Greeley Wind will contribute additional tax dollars that local governments can invest where it’s needed most, helping to strengthen schools, improve roads, support first responders and enhance other vital community services.

In 2024, NextEra Energy Resources’ subsidiaries paid a combined total of $19 Million* in state and local taxes and business-related fees in Nebraska.

Annual Property Taxes: Includes property tax and other indirect taxes. Internal data based on 2024 full year.

These contributions help sustain local governments, police and fire departments, schools and other community organizations, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to investing in the communities where we operate.

Energy Always Available

Energy from Nebraska is homegrown energy—produced here in Greeley County to benefit your community. Harnessing the power in your backyard not only benefits you—it helps our country.

Greeley County is leading the way in a new era of American energy production, expanding reliable, renewable power sources that keep homes, businesses and communities running strong.
